We are always “plugged in.” To work, to our phones, to our emails, even to our air fresheners. Yep, those scented plugs that we plug into the wall and hide the smell of last night’s dinner and our furry friends.
However, have you ever stopped to think about what is in those scented plug-ins? Sadly, if you take a closer look at the ingredients, you will quickly find that not only are they harmful for our environment, but they are potentially harmful to ourselves. A big one to look out for is Phthalates, which are known to cause hormone disruptions in our bodies.
A professor the University of Melbourne, Anne Steinemann, has extensively studied the health impacts of fragranced household products, and stated that one-quarter of the ingredients in air fresheners are classified as toxic or hazardous.
That may seem low, but why risk it? Especially when you can make your home smell lovely without potentially harmful chemicals.
